After Country Manager Samir Kumar returned to Helm Amazon’s India Operations, he announced that 70 percent of Amazon’s new customers now come from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.

Kumar emphasized that the company was still in the early days. “There is still so much potential that we have not yet fully used,” he said. “We have a team of innovators who constantly research new ideas and ask critical questions,” he added.

With its massive investment plans, a quick trading and the new focus on smaller cities and cities, Amazon signals that India is of central importance for its global ambitions despite the increasing regulatory challenges and violent local competition.
