Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global provider of IoT Solutions, launched the Quectel KCM0A5S, a high-performance Wi-Sun module that was developed for intelligent applications such as street lighting, precision agriculture, industrial IoT, smart measuring devices and smart cities.

Based on Silicon Labs EFR32FG25, a sub-GHz-wireless system with low power consumption and an ARM-Cortex M33 processor with a frequency of up to 97.5 MHz, the module includes an integrated 256 kB RAM and 2 MB flash memory, which ensure efficient performance.

The Quectel KCM0A5S Supports the Wi-Sun field area network (Fan) 1.1 Protocol and works over the frequency range of 470–928 ​​MHz. The module uses the IPV6-based wireless network network technology, which is intrinsic to the Wi-Sun Communication standard to provide long-term transmission, stable network connectivity and reliable data transmission. In addition, the KCM0A5S offers flexible provision functions that support both router and leaf node configurations in independent SOC mode and act as a border router if they are paired with a Linux host in RCP mode (Radio Co-Processor). This versatility makes it an ideal solution for a wide range of network applications in smart city, benefits and industrial IoT deployments.
