After the Stampede incident in Bengaluru on Wednesday during the RCB victory celebrations, which were injured for the death of 11 people, including a 14-year-old, and 50, the Karnataka cabinet took several disciplinary and legal measures.
The government has exposed the police commissioner of the police (DCP), the police commissioner responsible for the stadium and the city of Bengaluru, the police station of the Cubbon Park, the district’s deputy commissioner (ACP) of the area.
In a press conference after the meeting of the emergency cabinet on Thursday with the media, Prime Minister Siddaramaiah said that a one-member commission was retired under the leadership of the judge in retirement, judge Michael Cunha. Legal measures were also initiated against representatives of three companies – RCB, event organizers DNA and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). A FIR was registered and instructions were issued to arrest those responsible.
The deputy commissioner of the Bengaluru district was initiated as an investigation officer, and the report is expected within 15 days, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who expected the update via X within 15 days. The BJP criticized the state government today and demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Siddaramaiah and the deputy CM DK Shivakumar. In the meantime, RCB announced a compensation of 10 Lakh for the families of the deceased on Thursday. The franchise also set up a fund called “RCB Cares” to support fans who were violated in the incident. The government of Karnataka had already announced compensation of 10 Lakh and undertook to bear the full medical expenditure of the injured.
