Presented location tracking, navigation and emergency services from Skylo
Skylo Technologies, the world’s leading provider of satellite conference with over 5 million commercially activated devices, contains an insight into the next phase of its satellite conference strategy.
After the successful introduction of seamless satellite news for smartphones, Skylo now brings the same scale, reliability and simple integration into vehicles and switches on a new generation of omnipresent connectivity for security, diagnostics and emergency services with embedded antennas and existing chip set suppliers.
Skylo is proud of a newly announced member of the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA). In our first event, Skylo will be the focus on May 15, 2025 in the next 5GAA F2F week in Paris and several live demonstrations of commercially available vehicles.
Skylo’s automotive roadmap contains:
Always on vehicle connectivity (Showcase with BMW Group, Deutsche Telekom)
In order to introduce seamless communication without terrestrial network (NTN) in vehicles to support real-time messages, vehicle status messages, danger warnings and other applications that are transferred bidirectionally via satellites, Skylo works with Partners BMW Group and Deutsche Telekom. At 5GAA F2F, the BMW IX2 vehicle is connected to the non-terrestrial Skylo network with a standard SIM by Deutsche Telekom. In this way, users can maintain their current relationship with their mobile operator and at the same time complement terrestrial connectivity with satellites.
“Cooperation with BMW Group and Skylo shows which satellite confectionality already offers for the Internet of Things today” said Jens Olejak, satellite -iot program Lead at Deutsche Telekom. “We offer the IoT connectivity for this demonstration. Skylo is one of our partners for NB -NTN, fail-safe connectivity about geostationary satellites. It is important for important security functions such as real-time danger warnings in cars. Skylo is also a roaming partner in our global network of networks.
Scalable connectivity (shop window with cubic³, rolling wireless and Qualcomm)
Skylo and Cubic³ set the world’s first uniform ESIM solution of the automobiles, which supports both terrestrial and satellite conference. This 3GPP-REL-17 solution eliminates the need to support several networks or hardware upgrades to ensure that vehicles that are driven by Snapdragon® Auto 5G-Modem-RF solutions from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., remain safe with critical services everywhere. There is a clear line of sight to heaven everywhere. Skylo is currently working with Rolling Wireless to certify his RN951Y 5G rel 17 and NB-NTN module for satellite confectionality.
“We are pleased to reveal the world’s first solution for car grades, which provides seamless connectivity in terrestrial cell and non-terrestrial networks (NTN) and enables a large milestone for a really ubiquitous network for connected cars,” said Barry Napier, CEO from Cubic³. “Our cooperation with Skylo has focused on redefining the limits of global vehicle connectivity. Last year we announced our vision of bringing satellite confectionality to vehicles in order to ensure seamless reporting where mobile phone networks cannot achieve – and today we have made this vision of reality.”
Emergency connectivity (shop window with Harman)
The work of Skylo with Qualcomm and Harman shows improved emergency services, including bidirectional emergency messages directly from the Harman Ready Connect Telematics Control Unit (TCU). The demo vehicle will be able to send emergency harvest and get in real-time updates, including unwanted weather conditions, via the Skylo network if it does not correspond to the mobile phone cover. Skylos Cooperation with Harman, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., will be presented for the first time in March of this year. Where connectivity is not just a feature – it is the foundation that enables safer, more intelligent and emotionally more intelligent interactions between drivers, passengers and their vehicles.
Connectivity leadership (automobile solutions with Snapdragon Auto Connectivity platforms of the next generation)
Skylo enables its first connectivity solution for the Qualcomm technologies Snapdragon Auto 5G Modem-RF Gen 2. Recently certified, the Snapdragon 5G-Modem-RF gene 2-solution offers high-performance work with up to 200 MHz capacity for network capacities in order to reliably, light connectivity for improved security and intelligent, unrounded To offer driving trips. It also offers 5G connectivity for improved security, network coverage and reliability and supports 3GPP R17 NB-STN satellite communication for omnipresent connectivity.
This upcoming demonstration marks the world’s first shop window for seamless change between terrestrial and Skylo cover with a single SIM card. “Our ongoing collaboration with Skylo and Cubic³ has contributed to introducing the satellite conference in vehicles. We are pleased to now achieve a worldwide first with a uniform terrestrial and satellite solution on Snapdragon Auto 5G Modem-RF Gen 2.” said Jeff Arnold, Vice President, Product Management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “This milestone underlines our commitment, car manufacturers and drivers to offer a constantly networked experience that aims to offer a comfortable and safe driving experience.”
Voice & Media Codecs (collaboration with Fraunhofer IIS)
The cooperation between Skylo with the 5GAA member Fraunhofer outlines exciting areas of future development with the help of extended language codecs to enable language calls and messages from consumer devices and vehicles via the Skylo network.
“By Enabling Fraunhofer’s Ai Assisted Nesc Codec on NTN, We are Bringing High-Quality Voice Experience, PreviousLy ONLY Possible on Terrestrial Networks, Skylo’s Satellite-Based Service. This Make Voice-Enabled Automotive Emergency Cases A A Reality, Allowing Car Manufacturers to Offer Unprecedented Levels of Safety and Comfort to Their Customers, ” said Manfred Lutzky, Head of Audio for Communication at Fraunhofer IIS.
The upcoming demos in 5GAA are supported by our cooperation with Viasat, Inc. (Nasdaq: VSAT), a 5GAA member and worldwide leader in satellite communication. The BMW IX2 will offer Skylo Branding and exhibited at Télécom Paris during the 5GAA media event.
Parth Trivedi, CEO and co -founder of Skylo Technologies said:
“It is an honor for us to join the 5GAA and take on a leadership role, while the association contributes to building a standard -based basis for satellite conference that the automotive industry can apply.”
