In April, India’s coffee exports rose by 48 percent in April to $ 202.95 million due to high prices for raw material, while the volumes were a little lower over the period. In April last year, coffee exports were $ 137.27 million.
The export volumes in April, based on the permits granted by the coffee committee, were lower at 35,259 tons, which was a decrease of 11 percent compared to the same period of 39,827 tons in the previous year.
In the current calendar year from January 1 to May 15, the shipment volume was 13 percent at 1.54 Lakh tons, 1.77 LAKH tons a year ago. Arabica’s programs recorded growth during the period while the Robusta programs decreased.
Immediate coffee down
The programs of Arabica parchment rose in the period of 24,136 tons (16,795 tons in the same period of the previous year). Similarly, the Arabica Cherry programs also increase to 5,727 tons (3,657 tons). However, Robusta’s programs decreased. Robusta parchment programs were lower at 10,796 tons (12,059 tons), while the Robusta -Cherry programs had dropped to 60,321 tons (85183 tons).
The deliveries of instant coffee had dropped at 19,122 tons (19,713 tons), while imports for re -exports had dropped in the period from 15 January to January 15 with 34,160 tons (39,820 tons).
Ramesh Rajah, President of the Coffee Exporters Association, said that the shipping value was increased due to higher prices while the volumes have dropped. Arabica’s programs are higher due to the previous orders, while the buyers stay away from the expensive Indian robustas, said Rajah. The order book remains weak because the buyers still buy on need.
In the financial year in March 2025, India exported 3.89 LAKH tons of coffee worth a record of 1.82 billion US dollars.
